Our race began in June of 2001, just 6 months after our sorority learned of Jennifer Cameron’s tragic death.  We started this race in her memory with hopes of making a difference in our community.  Jennifer was a member at large of our National Sorority, Psi Iota Xi.  Her mother was a long standing, respected member who served several terms as treasurer and president of our local chapter.  She is currently an Honorary Active member.

Jennifer’s three children were orphaned as a result of their father/step-father's premeditated murder and suicide.  Jennifer’s father, Ray Williams and her mother, Alicia Williams have adopted their grandchildren.

Ray Williams passed away on July 16, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He spent several years after Jennifer’s passing speaking out against domestic violence.  He won much respect from those who heard his message.  He will be greatly missed.
